I actually like the 4 corners offense. If you have a defense who will go ahead an man up, and you have a good PG, it can create a lot of opportunities, and draw fouls when run properly. Coach Bentley didn't deliberately try to hold the basketball for a majority of the game like Pound does today. His offensive plan was to have a set half-court offense with plays that focused on getting into the post because his teams usually had the advantage. It seems like Pound is holding the ball just to keep the game close. Kelly would slow the game down but that was intended to let their players get into their offensive sets so that they could run a play.
